Day 1 : Arrival at Leh
Upon your arrival at the Leh Airport in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, you will be met by our representative and transfer to the hotel already booked for you. You will have the rest of the day at your leisure. In case you are not used to the thin atmosphere, we advise you to rest to acclimate yourself to your new environment. In the evening, we can go on a sight-seeing tour to visit the local markets of Leh as well as the famous Shanti Stupa. We will stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 02 : Indus Valley Monastery Excursion
After a good night's sleep and a delectable breakfast, we will begin our Indus Valley Monastery tour which will include Shey, Thiksey, Stok Palace and Sindhu Ghat. Shey is located in the upper Indus Valley, about 15 km east of Leh. The Thiksey Monastery is located on top of a hill, about 19 kilometers east of Leh. It houses the Maitreya (future Buddha) Temple as well as stupas and a nunnery. On this day, we will either have packed lunches or a hot lunch at the Kalden Home Stay in Stok. We will stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 03 : Leh to Nubra Valley (126 Kms / apex. 06 hrs)
After an early breakfast, we will drive to Nubra Valley through Khardung-La-Pass (the highest motor-able road in the world) at 18,390 ft, around 39kms from Leh. The Nubra Valley is popularly known as the valley of flowers. Along the Nubra River lie the villages of Sumur, Kyagar, Panamik, Turtuk and many others. The Samstanling Gompa lies between Kyagar and Sumur villages, was founded by Lama Tsultims Nima. We will stay overnight at the camp/hotel in Nubra.
Day 04 : Nubra Valley - Leh
After an early breakfast at the Nubra camp, we will visit the sand dunes of the Nubra Valley, where we can enjoy camel rides. Nubra is a high altitude cold desert and hence camels are often used for various purposes here. Later on in the afternoon, we will drive to Leh over the Khardung La pass. The rest of the day will be at your leisure; you may rest and relax or check out the local market. You will stay overnight at the hotel already booked for you.
Day 05 : At Pangong Lake (14,000 ft.)
After an early breakfast we will leave for Pangong Lake or Pangong Tso through Changla Pass, situated at an altitude of 5486 Mtrs. The road down from Changla Pass leads through Tangste and other smaller villages. Pangong Lake which presents a spectacular sight is situated at 14,000 feet (4,267 m) above sea level. Pangong Lake is about 134 km (83 mi) long and about 5 km (3.1 mi) wide at its broadest point. Pangong Tso is in disputed territory as the Line of Actual Control passes through the lake.
The brackish water of the lake supports very little aquatic life. After spending some time at Pangong Lake, we will drive back to Leh where we will stay overnight in the hotel.
Day 06 : Departure from Leh
Early in the morning, we will transfer you to the Leh Airport from where you can catch the flight for your onward destination.
